The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has demanded a proper investigation of West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee's recent visit to Bangladesh, suggesting that there was a hidden agenda behind it.

"A proper investigation should be launched to find out why she went to Bangladesh. On her return from Bangladesh, one of her delegation members who was holding a diplomatic passport was arrested at the airport. Who all accompanied her can be easily understood from that. All thieves and rogues accompanied her," claimed CPI (M) leader Biman Basu.

Basu further suggested that Mamata's visit was undertaken to cover the transfer of Saradha scam money to an Islamic fundamentalist group in Dhaka. "Maybe, there is every possibility, nothing can be overruled," said Basu .

Investigators during the interrogation of suspects in the Burdwan blasts had got vital leads on how Saradha funds had been transferred to the Islamic Bank in Bangladesh which was used to fund the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh module.
