Mamata Banerjee not acting against TMC leaders involved in ponzi schemes, alleges FM Arun Jaitley

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has accused West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee of not taking any action against her party leaders involved in ponzi schemes.

"Some individuals connected with the TMC have been involved in making easy money from ponzi schemes, which have looted small investors. It was incumbent on any responsible leader to purge party of such leaders. It's regrettable that Mamata Banerjee instead of doing that has chosen to identify herself with the cause of these leaders," said Jaitley in his article 'Govt. and the opposition – A case study'.

He also expressed disappointment over Mamata's reaction to the interrogation and arrest of some of her party leaders in the Saradha chit-fund scam.

"TMC's victory in Bengal was reaction to non-governance by Left. Various political forces joined the TMC to get the Left out," Jaitley added.

Meanwhile, Jaitley also condemned Mamata for alleging that the Burdwan blast was stage-managed by the Centre.

"NIA arrested several people who have engineered the Burdwan blast. Why has Didi chosen to allege that the blast was stage managed? Such allegations clearly help the actual culprits. This is neither responsible nor Nationalistic," he said.

Addressing her party workers in Kolkata earlier on Saturday, Mamata had accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi -led government of stage-managing the October 2 Burdwan blast with the objective of triggering riots in the state.

The TMC chief said the Centre, which is in charge of border security, had let in illegal immigrants into West Bengal with explosives and helped them find a house and make bombs with the objective of triggering riots in the state.
