West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that the snooping on Netaji's family was unfortunate.

"We all know that Netaji's family was under surveillance for several years. This is very unfortunate. I feel he was a great son of this soul, but what was done to his family, was very unfortunate. He did not get the honour and the respect he deserved to get," said Banerjee, while addressing reporters after she checked out the files on display at the Kolkata Police Museum.

Banerjee went on to say that there must be something important in the 130 files with the Centre and that the union government are trying to suppress it.

"You cannot suppress anything for long. The truth will come out someday. If are not hiding anything, why are you not declassifying the files?," she posed a question at the central government.

She even claimed that this decision of declassifying the files with the state government is a move towards maintaining transparency and credibility. "Let the truth come out. We have made the first step towards bringing the truth to the forefront. The Centre should follow our footsteps and reveal the truth," Banerjee added.
