A Malaysian national has been arrested from IGI airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold worth about Rs 67 lakh.

The passenger was intercepted by the customs officials following his arrival from Singapore yesterday.

"On detailed examination of his baggage and personal search, he was found carrying two gold bars weighing one kg each and four gold biscuits of 100 gram each," a press release issued today by the customs said.

The value of the gold, which was seized, is around Rs 66.92 lakh, it said, adding that the passenger has been arrested.
