In what could be a precursor to next year's Lok Sabha campaigns, BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday exhorted the youth to resolve to make India a 'Sone Ki Chidiya' (golden bird) again by 2022.

The call to the youth came at an event, titled Youth Parliament, at Karnavati University on the outskirts of Gandhinagar. The programme is a symposium on different political issues in which many politicians have been taking part. Shah was there for the inaugural session.

Speaking at the gathering, Shah enlisted the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre. He said, "The prime minister has achieved many goals and some are yet to be achieved. Our PM Modi has set the target to make India a Sone Ki Chidiya, what our nation was once called, by 2022. I think, with the cooperation of the youth in India, this can be achieved and that is why I call on you to resolve to make our nation the best in the world."

"India remained under the rule of Mughals and European rulers for many centuries and became independent 70 years ago and democracy was established. In the last 70 years, one party won for many times but we hardly could be the best in the world. After many years, BJP won as the single largest party with full majority four years ago. In these four years, we have achieved many things and are yet to do many things. This will possible when our society, youth and government will make efforts in same direction," Shah added.

Shah also said that by 2022, the PM has envisioned India to be Swachh Bharat, which is free from poverty, corruption, terrorism, casteism, racism and appeasement. He also said that there was a need to deject the party, which surrendered before the supremacy of one particular family and ran on nepotism. He also advised the youth that people from different parties would come to address in that forum but youth should join hands with the BJP to achieve the goal set by PM Modi.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was also present at the programme and he said that the Gujarat government led by the BJP always motivates the youth for progress through its policies and would be doing the same in the days to come. Gujarat BJP chief Jitu Vaghani, deputy CM Nitin Patel and other leaders also spoke at the inaugural session.
