Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT), a local political outfit, on Thursday requested the city police to deny permission to the BJP MP Yogi Adityanath to address a gathering at 'Hindu Chetana Sabha' here on September 13.
MBT leader Amjed Ullah Khan, in a letter to police commissioner M Mahender Reddy, alleged that Adityanath, MP from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, was notorious for hate speeches and was facing charges of inciting communal tension in his constituency. "He has delivered provocative speeches against the Muslim community on several occasions," Khan said.
"His visit to Hyderabad and proposed speech on September 13 ahead of Vinayaka Chaturthi (Ganesh festival) might trigger communal tension and disturb law and order," the MBT leader said.
MBT strongly opposed the visit of the BJP MP and he should not be allowed to address any meeting or gathering in Hyderabad, Khan said in the letter.
