Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majid Memon on Monday, described Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah's criticism about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as not having any substance.
"Whichever state he goes to he tries to make a ground for ensuing elections which may take place next year or thereafter. In West Bengal, he has taken head on against the Chief Minister by making all kinds of allegations, which are probably without substance," Memon told ANI.
He also stated that the BJP chief's speech given against the TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister had a political overtone.
"It is not he who should suggest what the Chief Minister should do, what steps she should take. She as the chief administrator of the state would definitely see what best lies in the interest of the state and the interest of the people. I think Amit Shah's advice is what is only some kind of a political overtone and nothing more like that," he added.
During a rally held yesterday, BJP President Amit Shah had slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying that if she cannot reign in her party workers and associates who are involved in corruption and scam, then she should step down.
Shah made these comments at a time when the CBI and the ED were tightening their grip in the multi-crore Saradha Ponzi scam probe.
Shah also lashed out at Banerjee, saying the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo is only concerned with illegal immigrants from Bangladesh instead of focusing on the state's development.
Taking potshots at the ruling TMC government in West Bengal, Shah said, "If Mamata Banerjee spends only half her time on Bengal rather than indulging in politics, Bengal will develop. She is only concerned with illegal immigrants from Bangladesh instead of being concerned with Bengal."
Attempting to reach out to the voters of the state, the BJP President said West Bengal will have to change if it wants to move ahead on the development path.
