Three class 12 students were detained at their exam centres in Kandivali on Friday for allegedly cheating in the HSC Book Keeping exam. The Kandivali police detained the students after the board’s flying squad caught these students with phones in the exam hall  and then alerted the police.

The police revealed that the students were caught with their cellphones. Copying material was found on them, after which their cellphones were confiscated. While two students were detained from Balbharti High school centre, one more student was detained from TR Naravane high school both of which are in Kandivali west.

“A few members from our flying squads found these three students possessing mobile phones in the exam hall, which is not permissible as per our guidelines and found some copy material in the phone gallery of these students. We immediately alerted the Kandivali police” said Dattatray Jagtap, Chairperson, Mumbai Divisional Board.

Police officials at the Kandivali police station said that they detained the students from their respective centres after a tip off from the board flying squads."We have detained these three teens and the education board authorities have given a formal complaint against the trio and further investigation is being conducted", said Mukund Pawar, Senior Inspector, Kandivali police station.

Jagtap said that after the incidents of paper leak, the board has decided to take strict action on students as well as invigilators who are found with phone. “We are going to lodge an official police complaint wherever we find people carrying phones in the hall” he added.
