National Students' Union of India (NSUI) workers on Thursday held a protest outside the Rail Bhawan against the Shiv Sena for allegedly forcing a Muslim man to break his fast.

A protester told ANI, "A few days ago Shiv Sena MPs had protested in Maharashtra Sadan regarding the poor quality of the food being served. A person is being forced to eat during Ramazan and the NDA government is encouraging this lawlessness."

The protesters were, however, detained by the Delhi police.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Gopal Shetty said that the matter must not be blown out of proportion

He told ANI, "This matter should not be blown out of proportion. A fight between two individuals is not necessarily communal. The MP was not trying to deliberately break the man's fast."

Shiv Sena MPs allegedly forced a Muslim catering supervisor to break his Ramzan fast at Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi last week.

The MPs were apparently angry over not being served good quality Maharashtrian food.

Leaders of various political outfits, however, have been united in their condemnation of the incident.
