The water department of Nashik Municipal Corporation announced a disruption in water supply in Panchawati and Nashik road region.
After experiencing high temperatures of 39.8 degree celsius last week, Nashik received rainfall, heavy wind and hailstorm on Sunday. According to the Meteorological Department, the rains started at 5:20 pm in the city and there was hailstorm in Pathardi, Nashik road and Cidco areas.
Though the rain reduced to light shower half an hour later, the climate has cooled down. This weather may continue in the city for the next two days, the Met Department in Nashik said.
"Nashik was already suffering from extreme heat since last two days. This rain has made for a cool and rainy weekend. Experiencing hailstorms at door step was a nice feeling," said Rashmi Pawar, a resident of Nashik road.
As a result of the rain, power has been out in College Road and Panchawati area since 5 pm.
Trees have fallen in some areas like Deolali Camp , Indira Nagar and Pathardi. According to Municipal Commissioner Praveen Gedam, they received 30 complaints of trees falling. Their teams have already started visiting every spot. "There is no big trees fallen. Most of them are palm trees that have fallen due to heavy wind," he said.
The water department of Nashik Municipal Corporation also announced a disruption in water supply in Panchawati and Nashik road region for Monday.
"All water supply works units have been disturbed due to heavy rains since evening. Water distribution from Panchavati , Gandhinagar, Bara Bungalow is disturbed due to MSEDCL Supply interruption. Till Bara Bungalow, the supply has not been restored. We are taking a continuous follow up with MSCB. They are working on a war footing. This will disturb the water supply for the evening and tomorrow morning," said Uttam Pawar, Superintendent Engineer at the Water Supply department of Nashik Municipal Corporation.
