Maharashtra Minister Dilip Kamble away to pay homage to Ex-PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, robbers attempt break-in at office

When the attempt of robbery took place, Kamble had gone to Delhi to pay homage to Vajpayee.

Just when the Minister of State for Social Justice, Dilip Kamble was in the national capital to attend the last rites of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a gang of robbers struck his office in Wanowrie area. According to police, the robbers tried to break the lock to enter the office but failed.

The incident came to light on Friday morning when the minister's family members found that lock of the office was damaged. Kamble stays in the same building. When the attempt of robbery took place, Kamble had gone to Delhi to pay homage to Vajpayee.

Speaking to DNA, Kamble said, "I had reached Delhi when I came to know about the robbery attempt. My house is on another floor but since a lot of people keep visiting me, I took another flat in the same building where I opened my office and the same office was targeted by the robbers."

The Wanowrie police have registered a case of attempt of robbery. Assistant police inspector, Asaram Shete of Wanowrie police station, who is investigating the case said, "There were two to three unidentified robbers who were on a robbing spree. Before attempting the robbery at the minister's office, the gang targeted two to three other flats in the same vicinity. However, they could not break in the office of the minister."

The police have obtained CCTV footage from the areas to get some more clues of the robbers. "The CCTV footage shows that the two to three robbers were involved in the robbery. The attempt was in the wee hours of Friday and due to the darkness, the footage is not very clear. We are still gathering some more evidence of the robbers," Shete said.
