Maharashtra legislature pays homage to former governor Mohammad Fazal, former CM AR Antulay

Both houses of Maharashtra legislature today paid homage to the former governor of the state Mohammad Fazal, former Chief Minister A R Antulay and other former legislators who passed away recently.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis moved a condolence motion in the Assembly which was adopted.

The Council was however adjourned for half an hour by the Chairman as opposition insisted on the Chief Minister's presence, who was in the lower house.

Later, when the Council reassembled, Fadnavis moved a condolence motion there too and it was adopted by the house.

Fadnavis also condoled the demise of former legislators Sunderrao Solankhe, Shankarrrao Gedam, Sabir Sheikh, Dattaji Khanvilkar, Udaysingh Gaikwad, Vijaysingh Prabhugaonkar, Mohan Patil, former Deputy Speaker Suryakant Dongre, Purushottam Kalu, P K Anna Patil, Malojirao Mogal, Kisanrao Bankhele, Umar Aziz Kazi, Bhujangrao Bagde, Netaji Rajgadkar, Praduma Mehta, Jagarao Chavan, Uttamrao Gawli-Vitekar and Govindrao Rathor.

Congress group leader Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, Prithviraj Chavan, Patangrao Kadam (all Congress), Ajit Pawar, Dilip Walse-Patil, Chhagan Bhujbal (all NCP), Subhash Desai (Sena)) also spoke on the condolence motion, among others.

The house was then adjourned for the day.
