Maharashtra Governor Sankaranarayanan transferred to Mizoram

In a late night development, government transferred Maharahstra Governor K Sankaranarayanan to Mizoram for his remaining tenure, which ends in 2017.
A late night Rashtrapati Bhawan communique issued past midnight says that the 82-year-old Sankaranarayanan has been shifted to Mizoram and Gujarat Governor OP Kohli has been asked to discharge his duties. OP Kohli will discharge the functions of the Governor of Maharashtra, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangement for the office of the Governor of Maharashtra, a government release issued at 12.00 am last night said.Sankaranarayanan takes over the post after it fell vacant following the sacking of Kamla Beniwal, who had a long-standing dispute with Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was the Gujarat chief minister.
