Maharashtra government is likely to invite the premier management institute Indian School of Business (ISB) from Hyderabad to open its campus in the state. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who has been invited as speaker at the ISB Leadership Summit, is expected to give proposal in this regard. Fadnavis will deliver his speech on September 23 on 'Transforming Tomorrow: The Future Unraveled.'

At present, ISB has two campuses, one in Mohali (Punjab) and another in Hyderabad (Telangana). ISB has partnership with The Wharton School, the Kellogg School of Management and London Business School.

Chief Minister's Office told DNA,'' CM has accepted the invitation and will attend the summit on September 23.''

On Maharashtra proposing ISB to set up its campus in the state, an official from the education department said,'' If Honourable CM says in his address then we can take forward.''

During the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance government between 1995 and 1999, the promoters of ISB had evinced interest to set up in Maharashtra. The government had notified land but refused to give any other concessions including waiver in stamp duty.

It was Maharashtra's loss but Andhra Pradesh's gain as the former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu provided all sops desired by the founders of ISB. The foundation stone was laid in 1999 and the former prime minister AB Vajpayee inaugurated ISB in 2001.

Meanwhile, Fadnavis in his speech is expected to list out slew of pro-development decisions implemented by his government in Maharashtra. Apart from the flagship Jalyukta Shivar (water conservation scheme), Fadnavis will make a mention of infrastructure up-gradation projects in Mumbai and Tier II and III cities, measures taken towards ease of doing business, the implementation of Right to Services Act and comprehensive plan to increase irrigation potential and improve ailing farm sector.
