President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday appointed new Governors for the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Goa. The appointment of the new Governors was made after the Home Ministry's recommendations.
The new Governnor for Maharashtra is C Vidyasagar Rao. Gujarat Assembly Speaker Vajubhai Vala will be the new Governor of Karnataka, Kalyan Singh will be Governor of Rajasthan, and Mridula Sinha will be the new Governor of Goa.

Senior BJP leader and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh has been appointed the governor of Rajasthan, replacing the UPA appointee Margaret Alva, whose tenure ended earlier this month. Kalyan Singh had already claimed on August 11, that he was offered the post of Governor of Rajasthan and he has accepted the position "happily".
Vidyasagar Rao, former Union minister from Andhra Pradesh was appointed as Maharashtra Governor as the post fell vacant on Monday when incumbent K Sankaranarayanan resigned after he was transferred to Mizoram.

Vajubhai Vala, current Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly has been appointed as Karnataka Governor after the post was lying vacant since July end, when former Law Minister HR Bhardwaj had completed his five year tenure.
Former president of BJP Mahila Moprcha Mridula Sinha has been appointed as the new Governor of Goa as the tenure of Governor Margaret Alva, who was shifted from Rajasthan to Goa ended on August 5.
Earlier, the NDA government had sacked Mizoram Governor Kamla Beniwal, who had served in Gujarat earlier and had a running battle with Narendra Modi when he was the state's chief minister.
