Maharashtra Legislative Council was on Tuesday adjourned twice after opposition members created an uproar over issues of farmers.

As Council Chairperson Shivajirao Deshmukh came in the Upper House this morning, opposition members started raising issues related to farmers and drought situation in the state. The chairperson tried to calm them down, but in vain.

He then adjourned the House for 20 minutes. When the Council re-assembled, the opposition members came into the well and loudly raised their demands, including immediate help for drought-hit farmers.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tried to introduce some of his new ministers, but it was not possible amid the din.

The chairperson then once again adjourned the House for 30 minutes.
