Launching an attack on the ruling BJP government on its completion of 100 days in power, Maharashtra Congress on Saturday said it failed to deliver electoral promises and only restricted itself to making "announcements".

The opposition Congress accused the BJP-Shiv Sena government of reneging promises, particularly on issue of Local Body Tax, toll tax and farmers and labourers welfare.

"The BJP-SS government has restricted itself to only making announcements and tall promises. They have completely failed on all fronts," Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Manikrao Thakre told a press conference in Nagpur.

Congress leaders and workers will stage road blockade agitation across the state on February 9 to highlight failures of the government, he said.

Thakre said the government was maintaining a "stony silence" over removal of LBT and toll tax and failed to provide relief to drought-affected farmers in Marathwada and Vidarbha region, no relief rendered to cotton, paddy and soya growers and also failed to arrest farmers' suicide.

Thakre said the BJP leaders had earlier demanded that leaders of the Democratic Front, in the previous NCP-Congress government, be booked under IPC section 302 (murder), holding them responsible for farmer suicides in Vidarbha. But now that the farmers of Marathwada region have also committed suicide, hence now, BJP-SS leaders should be booked under the offence.

Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Radha Krishna Vikhe Patil was also present.
