Bharatiya Janata Party's youth wing Yuva Morcha's Mumbai unit president has tendered his resignation following a senior office bearer's complaint that she was molested by him earlier this month.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the incident took place on March 4 on the sidelines of a three-day executive committee meeting in Mathura, when the woman was rehearsing for a performance to take place the next day.

The woman in the letter to BJP Mumbai unit chief Ashish Shelar, has alleged that the party's youth wing president Ganesh Pandey called her to his room late in the night where she saw him drinking with others and then asked her obscene questions. He also made dirty jokes on her and held her hand when she tried to leave, said report.

Confirming to the daily that the resignation of Pandey has been accepted and the city unit of Yuva Morcha has been dissolved, Shelar told the daily, "Everything will be done to make sure there is no repeat of such incidents in the future."

However, Pandey termed the allegations levelled against him as a political conspiracy, saying, "I have tendered my resignation and asked for a detailed inquiry. If I am not guilty, the lady concerned must face punishment. I abide by the rules and regulations of my party."

Referring to the copy of the victim's letter, the report said that Pandey and his friends had allegedly followed the victim and her colleague to their room and when they couldn't gain entry inside, banged on the door and played porn clips on full volume on their phones. The letter says that Pandey also issued a threat to her saying, "I will touch you once. I don't care if you file a case against me after that," the daily reported.

While there is no word on whether an internal enquiry has taken place to probe the incident, the woman has not filed any police complaint and expressed satisfaction with the action taken against Pandey by the party.
