At least seven people were killed on Wednesday morning after a fire broke out at a hotel in Maharashtra's Gondia.

The incident reportedly took place at 4:00 am after a fire broke out in a market at Gorelal chowk, which later spread to Hotel Bindal. Seven people were charred to death and their bodies are yet to be identified.

The fire brigade has rescued six people, however, their condition is said to be critical. The exact reason for the fire is not known.

There were reportedly 10 to 15 people in the hotel when the fire broke out.

One person, who got seriously injured after he jumped from the second floor to rescue himself, succumbed to injuries while he was rushed to hospital in Nagpur.

The fire was contained after four hours.
