Mahamana Express: 10 things you need to know about Varanasi-Vadodara train

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to unveil the Mahanama Express on Friday during his two-day visit to Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi.

Railways minister Piyush Goyal would be present in Gujarat's Vadodara, and minister of state for railways Manoj Sinha in Surat, the officials said.

Here are the 10 points you need to know about the new deluxe train:

1. Mahamana Express, which is built under the Make in India initiative, will cover two routes of Varanasi-New Delhi and Bhopal-Khajuraho.
2. The train will connect prime minister's constituency Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh with Surat and Vadodara in Gujarat.
3. It is a weekly train that will run from Varanasi every Friday and from Vadodara every Wednesday.
4. The train will stop at Gujarat's Bharuch and Surat; Maharashtra's Amalner and Bhusawal; Itarsi, Jabalpur, Katni and Satna in Madhya Pradesh and Chheoki in Uttar Pradesh.
5.  It will cover distance of 1,531 km in 27 hours and 30 minutes at an average speed of 55.7 km per hour, according to the officials.
6. The new train will have 18 coaches – one AC First Class coach, two Second AC, eight sleeper and four general coaches. There will be no AC-3 tier coach in this train.
7.  It will offer best sanitation facilities with platform washbasins in toilets, bigger mirrors, an odour controlled system, dustbins and exhaust fans.
8.  The high-class train will include features like well-designed ladders for climbing to upper berths, convenient snack tables for side berths, LED reading lights and LED lights as berth indicators and the elegant venetian blinds and roller blinds used for the windows.
9.  The deluxe train will also have fire extinguishers in all coaches and an electrically operated chimney in pantry car.
10. The Mahamana Express has been named after former Hindu Mahasabha president Madan Mohan Malviya, who was also known as 'Mahamana'.
