Maha govt plans to increase airstrip length of Shirdi airport

It wants toto increase the length of the airstrip there from 2500 to 3200 meters.

While Shirdi Sai Sansthan is preparing for Saibaba Samadhi centenary celebrations from October 2017, the government is planning to increase the length of the airstrip there from 2500 to 3200 meters and also provide night landing facilities at Shirdi airport. 

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday asked the airline companies to visit Shirdi and explore possibility of starting service for the newly modified Green Field airport at Shirdi at the earliest. Shirdi will be witnessing centenary celebration year of Saibaba Samadhi starting from October 2017. 

Chief Minister Fadnavis held a meeting to review the progress of proposed Purandar airport in Pune and starting service to Shirdi Green Field airport. The state government has planned to operationalise the Green Field airport at Shirdi by October when the centenary celebrations begin. 

The airline companies were invited for today's meeting and Fadnavis asked the representatives of airline companies to visit Shirdi so that they can prepare their plans to provide service for the religious destination of Shirdi which has visitors from all over the world through out the year. 

Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust is celebrating Saibaba Samadhi centenary year between October 2017 and October 2018. The trust is expecting visitors all over the world to visit Shirdi in this year. 

Fadnavis told the airline companies that VVIPs and dignitaries from 42 countries would be visiting Shirdi during the centenary year celebrations and the crowds could break all the records during the celebrations. He suggested that they explore the possibility of providing schedule and time table in view of the celebrations.

Compensation to people who gave land for Pune airport

District collector of Pune was given the authority to provide compensation alternatives to people from Purandar whose land would be acquired for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport at Purandar. One time compensation with full land cost, compensation along with share in developed land, share in the airport development company or providing alternate land are the options and land owner would be given opportunity to choose the option.
