Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday launched ‘Single Click Pension Delivery’ scheme, wherein the money will go directly into the account of the beneficiaries.
More than 35 lakh people of the state, who are senior citizens, will benefit from this move.
Chouhan honoured the elderly who completed the age of 100 years with the ‘Shataayu’ award.
Not only Bhopal but in entire Madhya Pradesh older people, who had completed the age of hundred years, have been awarded with this honour.
Shawl, Shriphal, which is also termed as the ‘God’s fruit’, and cash prize of Rs1,000 were presented in respect to all the senior citizens.
“List of elderly people living alone will be made. The state government will aid them through a helpline. All these elderly people will be honoured in the government events,” the Chief Minister said on the occasion.
Chouhan further said that the state was bringing a law to punish those children who neglect their senior citizen parents.
