The National Security Act (NSA) has been invoked against BJP's District Minority Cell's Vice President Anwar Mev by the Dewas district administration for allegedly keeping beef in his house, according to a report in The Indian Express

Anwar Mev aka Anna has also been expelled from the party after right-wing activists seized meat, which they claimed to be beef, from his home in Freeganj area of Tonk Khurd town. Nine other accused, including  Mev's sons, brothers and nephews who are among the nine accused, have also been kept in the local jail. Two more accused are absconding.

The district administration took the decision using a primary report from the government veterinary hospital to declare the meat as beef. The final report from a lab in Mathura will arrive in weeks, the report said.

An advisory board will decide whether Mev's detention under NSA is justified or not. The investigating officer has said that they have initiated the process of externing the five accused out of the district boundary.

Meanwhile, Tehsildar Kanhaiyalal Tilwari has requested the municipal and police authorities to remove mutton and chicken shops in three days from the areas where temples and schools were located, the report said. Right-wing activists submitted a memorandum to the tehsildar objecting to the mutton and chicken shops.

Tilwari added that the shops won't be shut down, but would be moved away from the town and sheds would be provided to the shopkeepers.

The shop owners have said that they have been working in the area for decades and had never faced any issues. Tilwari maintained that the move was made as locals had voiced their issues.
