Amid the farmers' agitation in Madhya Pradesh, which started on June 1 and saw the death of five persons in police firing, a 80-year-old woman was beaten by cops, accusing her of hiding stone pelters inside her house.

Kamlabai Mewade, whose photo of four-five cops beating has gone viral on social media, has alleged that police personnel dragged her out of her house and thrashed.

A woman, resident of Phanda Kala said that police shouted "buddhi pathrav karva rahi hai, aag lagwa rahi hai ( This old woman is provoking stone pelting, vehicles torching)."

Recalling the incident, a woman who is now undergoing medical treatment for her fractured arm, told Times of India, "I was sitting in my house along with my husband, sons and grandsons when police barged in. They accused me of hiding stone pelters inside my house."

She claims that even after denying and asking them to take a look at her house, police started beating her and her husband.

Alleging that police fired four to five tear gas shells into her house, Kamlabai now wants to ask police why they hit her. "They were younger than my grandsons," she told the daily.

The report also said that when Kamalabai and her son went to Dussehra Maidan to meet Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and complain about the incident, police turned them away.

Meanwhile, Chouhan, who is on a fast for the second day, is likely to meet farmers of the state witnessing agrarian unrest.

Chouhan, under attack over the agitation during which six farmers were killed in a police firing, earlier said the government stood firm with the farmers.

The chief minister also that he met 15 delegations of small farmers and 236 panels of big farmers yesterday. The delegations pressed for loan waiver and "satisfactory" prices for their produce.
