In the run up to assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, both the BJP and Congress are leaving no stones unturned, which also includes turning to Vastu experts. After the Congress, which has been out of power in the state for the last 14 years, removed 'vastu dosh' (architectural defects) from its state headquarters, it was BJP's turn to demolish a security quarter near the gate of its headquarter on the advice of a vastu expert.
In order to retain power and quell rebellion within, the BJP state headquarters is being refurbished as per the advice of the vastu expert. As a part of it, a water tank was constructed just near the entrance gate by demolishing a security quarter.
The space used to house a water tank during the period when Uma Bharti was chief minister in 2003. But it was later demolished to pave way for security picket and a room for security personnel.
When party members consulted vastu experts they said that construction of a water tank will help party's fortunes in one of toughest elections, where three-time Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is facing fierce anti-incumbency.
Bhopal MP and BJP spokesperson Alok Sanjar said vastu is a need for everyone and added that the party believes in traditions. Elaborate arrangements were made during the construction with several Pandits and Sahdus gracing the occasion, chanting mantras.
Earlier, the Congress removed three toilets located near its spokespersons' room on the ground floor of the four-storey office complex — Indira Bhawan — in Shivajinagar area in state capital Bhopal, also after consulting 'vastu shastra' experts.
