Mann has alleged that his apology hasn't been taken and a political issue has been made out of it.
The nine-member committee set up by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to look into the Aam Aadmi Party MP Bhagwant Mann's video incident on Tuesday held a meeting with Parliament security staff.
Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma, who also attended the meeting, reportedly accused the Parliament security for the lapse, which apparently did not go down well with the committee led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kirit Somaiya. IPS officer Yogesh Deshmukh, Joint Secretary (Parliament security), who also attended the meeting, termed the video shooting and posting incident 'serious'.
The panel has summoned Parliament personnel guarding the entry gate ' where Mann had shot the video of security procedure ' on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the AAP Sangrur MP, who is slated to appear before the committee on July 28, accused the Centre and other opposition parties of giving a political twist to his apology to the Speaker with regard to his controversial live streaming of Parliament. Addressing the media, Mann said, 'My apology has not been accepted. It is being given a political twist and colour. The opposition and my rivals are saying that my membership of parliament should be terminated; that I am a danger to this country.'
On Tuesday, it was expected that Mann would appear before the panel to give his defence of the episode, but he did not. He has, however, downplayed the controversy surrounding the live streaming of his arrival at parliament, and demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi be expelled for compromising national security by allowing a team from Pakistan to investigate the Pathankot Air Force base after a terror attack in January this year.
Mann has consistently maintained that he never wanted to jeopardise Parliament's security. He says that he believes that the people who have elected Members of Parliament have every right to know how their issues are raised in both Houses.
