DMK Treasurer M K Stalin today flayed attempts being made to drive a wedge between him, his father M Karunanidhi and cadres and called for an end to such efforts.

"Stop efforts to drive a wedge between me, party president (Karunanidhi) and cadres," Stalin told the media.

Stalin also accused a section of media of indulging in such a campaign "to create a rift."

"Please stop creating rift at least from now on. This is my appeal," he said in a statement here today.

Stating that no results came out of bid to produce rift by "creating" persons "inimical" to him, he said such elements were spreading falsehood.

The oblique remark of bid to "create persons" inimical to him is seen as a reference to projection of his siblings former Union Minister MK Alagiri and Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi as rivals by sections of media.
Hitting out at news reports that he was out to gain control over the party, Stalin said he was a dedicated follower of party chief Karunanidhi.

Stalin, who has completed his tour in 12 districts during which he interacted with partymen to find out reasons for its debacle in the Lok Sabha polls, said the cadres remained dedicated to the party.
