Lucknow: Father, who was booked for molesting older daughter, alleges Shia cleric molested younger child

A minor girl in Lucknow has levelled molestation charges against prominent Shia Cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawwad two years after the alleged incident took place.

Jawwad has, however, vehemently denied the charge saying that it was an attempt to malign his image. “A case was also filed but the court had dismissed the case. It was being done at the behest of few vested interests,” he claimed.

The girl’s father held a press conference at the UP Press Club claiming that his wife used to work in Jawwad’s house as a domestic help. However, after she took ill, their eldest daughter started working there. 

“Jawwad would give my daughter gifts and cash. One day, my younger daughter also went along with her sister. It was then that Jawwad touched her inappropriately, and when my older child objected, she was molested as well,” the father added.

The father claimed that his daughter was in a state of shock for several months after the incident. He filed a complaint against the cleric after she narrated her ordeal. However, the cleric, alleged the father, used his influence to ensure no action was taken against him.

“He bribed my son and daughter and they complied with whatever he demanded. Since then, my daughter and I have been running from pillar to post to get justice,” the father alleged.

Incidentally, the eldest daughter had accused the father of molesting her, and a case was booked in this regard. An aide of the cleric further claimed that the father was being used by the Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board Chairman to settle scores with Jawwad.
