Lucknow: ATS nabs arms dealer who sold weapons to Pakistan-trained terrorists

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Monday arrested a person in Lucknow on charges of supplying arms and ammunition to Pakistan-trained terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Monday arrested a person in Lucknow on charges of supplying arms and ammunition to Pakistan-trained terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir.

Jammu & Kashmir Police had recently held four terrorists Waqar, Rizwan, Asif and Zeeshan from Baandipura area. During interrogation they revealed that a deal for the supply of arms was struck with Sheikh Ali Akbar of Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh. On this tip off, the ATS put numbers of Akbar on surveillance and arrested him from Lohia Path in Lucknow on Monday.

ATS Chief Asheem Arun said that the arrested terrorist has admitted that the deal was done and Rs 40,000 was transferred into the account of his relative for the purchase of two pistols. His mobile data records show that he was in touch with terrorists in Pakistan and had sent pictures of weapons on WhatsApp to the arrested terrorists to strike the arms deal.

His mobile data record shows that he was a member of as many nine WhatsApp groups of different terrorist organisations. Many videos of hate speeches and incriminating literature were also found in his mobile data. His other social media accounts are being checked.

"We are checking his links with terrorist groups and network in Uttar Pradesh and other states," said Asheem Arun.
