The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday lashed out at Akhilesh Yadav for mocking it over the 'love jihad' issue, saying the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister should concentrate on the deteriorating law and order situation in his state instead of watching movies. "I think instead of watching movies and listening songs, Akhilesh should worry about the deteriorating condition of UP. He should see how to improve the pathetic condition of women that is prevailing currently in the state," said BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra.

Questioning the relevance of the topic 'love jihad' to be discussed in the Uttar Pradesh BJP's state executive body meeting in Vrindavan, Akhilesh earlier in the day said, "Who is the legislator of the area where this meeting begun? Have you listened to the songs of the movie 'Dharmatma'?....... …that this BJP MLA has worked in? 'Jis film ke gaane aise honge, wahan Mohabbat badhegi ya rukegi'."

According to reports, the issues of 'love jihad' and conversion of Hindus have been included in the BJP's two-day meeting in Uttar Pradesh after a Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) outfit called Dharma Jagran Manch called for a front against ' love jihad', which refers to Muslim men marrying Hindu girls and allegedly converting them to Islam.
