Lord Swraj Paul assures help to Kolkata-based child welfare project

Lauding the work of a Kolkata-based humanitarian project dedicated to the welfare of the underserved children, NRI industrialist Lord Swraj Paul has pledged all possible assistance to make the project a success.

"I am overwhelmed to hear about the work your are doing to make a difference in the lives of underserved children," he said while inaugurating a two-day exhibition of 'Paint Our World' at the Nehru Centre here last evening.

"I am glad part of my family - son Angad, daughter in law and two grand children - came to see the exhibition. We will give all support to you in your work.    It is a tremendous thing," said Paul, a philanthropist and educationist.

Referring to recent elections in India in which 550 million electorate exercised their franchise and gave BJP's Narendra Modi an absolute majority, the founder-Chairman of the Caparo Group said: "so far all signs indicate that he (Modi) is determined to bring about a change (in the lives of the people) and let all of us wish him success."

Dr Priya Virmani, Founder-Director of Paint Our World (POW) said: "POW started at Sona Gachi, Kolkata's red light area in 2009 now has eight centres in four cities including Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore."

POW aims to emotionally empower children who have suffered traumatic experiences in order to improve their quality of life.

Using a curriculum designed by India's leading child psychologists, POW has created a programme of child sensitised activity therapy.

These methods have been clinically measured to improve children's self esteem, focus and key skills, allowing them to look forward to a better future.Educationist.
