LK Advani congratulates Kejriwal for spectacular win in Delhi polls

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani on Thursday congratulated Delhi chief minister designate Arvind Kejriwal for his party's spectacular win in the capital, according to sources.

Kejriwal, who met Prime Minister Modi earlier in the day, led his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to an unprecedented win in the Delhi Assembly polls securing 67 out of the 70 seats on offer.

The AAP chief also invited the Prime Minister to his swearing-in ceremony at the Ramlila Maidan on February 14, although the latter expressed his inability to attend the ceremony.

Kejriwal had met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu and President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday.

The Delhi chief minister designate had earlier met Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung at the latter's official residence and staked a claim to form the government in the national capital.

Jung will now send the report regarding the matter to President Pranab Mukherjee, clearing the way for Kejriwal to go ahead with plans for government formation.
