Mann ki Baat: PM Modi hails ISRO's historic achievement, calls Digi Dhan a success

The Prime Minister addressed the nation on his radio programme 'Mann ki Baat'.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on a number of issues in the 29th edition of his radio programme 'Mann ki Baat'  on Sunday. The programme aired at 11 am and was broadcast on the All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan.

In the last edition, the Prime Minister addressed young students about appearing for various board examinations and competitive exams. This time, Modi trained his focus on the Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) historic achievements. 

He congratulated the women's team for their silver win at the Asian Rugby Sevens Trophy and the Indian team for winning Blind T-20 World Cup.

The Prime Minister also hailed farmers for the record production of food grains this year.

Highlights from his address:

— Winter is on its way out. Vasant, the season of spring, has just started to step into our lives.

— After the successful mission of sending Mangalyaan to Mars, recently ISRO achieved a world record in the arena of space. India created history by becoming the first country to launch successfully 104 satellites into space at one go.

— This cost effective, efficient space programme of ISRO has become a marvel for the entire world.

— India has successfully tested Ballistic Interceptor Missile. This is a cutting edge technology in the arena of security.

— A lot of emphasis is being laid on Digi Dhan. People are moving towards digital currency. Digital transactions are rising. Digital payments will help fight corruption and proliferation of black money.

— Remembering Dr Ambedkar, one must teach at least 125 persons about downloading BHIM App and procedure of making transactions through it.

— The hardwork of our farmers has resulted in record production of more than 2,700 lakh tonnes food grains.

— I appreciate the performance put up by our athletes at the Rio Paralympics.

— 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ movement is moving forward with rapid strides. It has now become a campaign of public education.

— Congratulations to women players who won silver at the Asian Rugby Sevens Trophy and to the Indian team for winning Blind T-20 World Cup.
