The government has rubbished a letter attributed to the Cabinet Secretariat, regarding linking land records to Aadhaar, calling it "fake and mischievous".
The letter had claimed that the Centre has asked all states and union territories to complete by August 14 the digitization of land records, mutation records, sale and purchase records since 1950 of immovable property including land.
A police complaint has been filed and the matter is being investigated, the government said in a statement.
