After the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of the case on Delhi Government formation till October 10, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal today said that it seems like Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung is batting for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Kejriwal said, "This is very unfortunate and seems like LG is batting for BJP,"

"We have complete faith in judicial system, hopeful to get justice. Now we have got to know that LG has sent a report to the central government that BJP government should be given the invitation to form government in Delhi," he added. "But I don't understand on what basis LG has submitted this report. Because in December, BJP had given in written to LG that we cannot form government as we don't have numbers. And BJP has not withdrawn that letter by now. After that BJP has not even given any fresh letter as well, saying that they have majority," said Kejriwal.

The apex court had earlier asked the Centre to take a decision on holding Delhi Assembly elections following a petition filed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) asking for the dissolution of the Assembly and fresh polls. Yesterday, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had said that only Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung can take a decision on the formation of the next government in Delhi. Delhi has been under President's rule since Arvind Kejriwal resigned as chief minister February 14 after being in office for 49 days. The BJP won 31 seats in the 70-member house but now has 28 legislators after three were elected to the Lok Sabha in the general elections held in April-May. The AAP also has 28 MLAs representing it.
