The 23-year-old law student who had gone missing from Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh has now been found in Rajasthan with her friend, the police said today, adding that necessary legal action will be taken. Earlier, parents of the missing woman had alleged that the BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand is responsible for her disappearance, based on a viral video made by her shortly before she went missing that had accused Chinmayanad.

The Supreme Court took up the matter today over levelling charges and allegations of harassment and kidnapping against Chinmayanand.

Intervening in the case, the Court today directed the woman's presence in its premises today evening.

The Court started out by directing the counsel appearing for the Uttar Pradesh government to give details about the exact location of the missing law student, who had accused the BJP leader and former Union Minister Swami Chinmayanand of sexually harassing her. A Bench headed by Justice R Banumathi had also asked Uttar Pradesh police today to inform when she can be produced at the Court. To this, the government replied that
the woman has reached Fatehpur Sikri and that the government can send written email to the authorities for re-routing with security. She can reach Delhi in two and a half hours, said the counsel appearing for the government. The boy who she was found with will also be presented along with her.

The Court will interact with the girl in its chambers and pass further orders. It will reassemble in open court after interacting with the girl.

"In the Shahjahanpur episode, the girl has been located by Shahjahanpur police in Rajasthan along with her friend. Necessary legal action is being taken," the police said in a tweet.

Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP), OP Singh, said, "An FIR was registered by BJP leader and former Union Minister Swami Chinmayanand. As per the report of the FIR, the girl (law student) was demanding Rs 5 crore and was threatening to go for media trial. Appropriate legal action is to be taken."

The woman's father today said, "I'm relieved that she has been located. I would not like to say anything about Swamiji (BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand) until I hear what my daughter has to say".

Earlier, an FIR had been registered against former Union Minister and BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand after the woman who alleged he had been harassing her went missing, police had said on Tuesday.

Chinmayanand was booked under Section 364 (abduction) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, the police said. The girl's family had also alleged that the BJP leader is responsible for her disappearance.

A video of the missing girl had gone viral on August 24 in which she had alleged that a person from 'Sant Samaj' has destroyed the lives of many women and he has done the same to her. She also alleged that the person had also threatened to kill her and her parents.

Meanwhile, Chinmayanand's lawyer had also alleged that the BJP leader had received a message on his mobile phone on August 22 from an unknown number demanding Rs 5 crore and threatening that if the money is not given, then they will release an explicit video of the leader.

The recent development comes under a backdrop of increasing concern on part of lawyers and activists who feared the woman's situation could potentially turn into another case akin to what happened in Unnao in the state not too long ago, where allegations were raised against BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar of raping a minor girl and conspiring to murder her and her lawyer in a car crash.
