A suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba operative Mohammed Shahid has been arrested from Mewat in Haryana by Delhi Police which claimed to have busted a terror module planning to attack prominent market places in the national capital.

"Shahid was arrested from Nuh in Mewat.His other associates are on the run," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said.

The terror module was spread across Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan.

A top LeT commander, identified as Javed Baluchi and believed to be operating from Pakistan, was their handler.

Shahid visited Pakistan twice in the past and apparently met Baluchi, sources said.

Shahid came under police scanner after investigators traced Baluchi’s calls to his cellphone.

Special Cell officers have also recovered a diary from Shahid which gives details of a terror attack being planned in the national capital, the sources said.

With his arrest, police have claimed to have busted a module of the terror outfit planning to attack prominent market places in the national capital.
