Lashkar announces launch of online jihadi magazine in J&K

No more pseudonyms; Terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toeba has decided to launch an online jihadi magazine 'Wyeth' (River Jhelum) in Jammu and Kashmir. Breaking away from the previous modus operandi, this is the first time L-e-T came it in the open about have a concrete social media presence.

However, what remains to be seen is from where they will operate and who will upload the content.

Lashkar spokesman Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi said in a statement to local news agencies that the upcoming magazine will cover all aspects of struggle including armed, ideological, political, psychological, and technological.

"We will not project the false picture of the situation in Kashmir that the Indian media propagates to lure Kashmiris. Our agenda will be to tell the truth," he said.

Ghaznavi noted that the online magazine will come up with "truth and counter the visible or invisible propaganda of the foes".

"In today's time, when warfare is reshaping itself, and the legitimate struggle (jihad) for the freedom of Kashmir is touching new heights, Wyeth will be a ray of hope amid the oppression and ideological chaos," said the spokesman.

Earlier, Lashkar ranks would operate on social media platforms using various code names. They would upload videos of jihad, and terrorists to romanticise their acts and lure gullible youth to join them.

Lashkar had multiple twitter handles that were being operated from Pakistan. Jamat-ud-Dawa, the fountainhead of Lashkar, publishes its own magazine in Pakistan.
