CPI(M) candidate from South Kolkata, Nandini Mukhopadhyay has reacted sharply to Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim mocking her name. She has said Mayor is using language used by lumpens, reports Zee 24 Ghanta.

Firhad Hakim popularly known as Bobby had said on Sunday about Nandini Mukhopadhyay that, "Who has CPM fielded from this seat? Who is she? She can't be seen normally and is only visible during an election."

Hakim also said that probably someone imported from foreign lands will be soon fielded and said, "Maybe BJP will do it". In attacking Nandini Mukhopadhyay, Bobby Hakim used a line, "Ke tumi Nandini, Age to dekhini", which means, "Who is this girl, never haven't seen her before".

The cult song "Jibone ki Pabo na" from the movie Tin Bhubaner Parey had iconic actors like Soumitra Chatterjee and Tanuja. Soumitra lip-synced to Manna De's song and 'Ke tumi Nandini' became one of the most famous pick-up lines at that time. But Bobby Hakim's attempt at banter trying to pun Nandini Mukhopadhyay's name didn't go down well with the CPI(M) candidate.

She said about Hakim who is also a minister in the Mamata government, " The line used by the minister is from a popular song, where my favourite hero lip-synced. But in childhood, we have seen lumpens using this song to eve-tease". Nandini further said, "Minister is voicing lumpen's language. You can only understand the condition of the state".

Nandini Mukhopadhyay who has unsuccessfully contested from Kolkata South in the past is locked in a tough battle against TMC stalwart Mala Roy. BJP which has a decent influence in the area is yet to declare its candidate.
