Landslide triggered by heavy rains have cut off road communication to Hayuliang in remote Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh but there was no report of any loss of life.

Heavy rains have lashed Anjaw for the past 26 days and official sources said Hayuliang has remained cut off since on Sunday. Landslides at several places destroyed three government quarters and the cement concrete steps at Chingraliang village.

There was, however, no report of any loss of life. A cardamom drying shed was also washed away in the rain, Hayuliang additional development commissioner B Towsik said, adding men and materials, however, were evacuated.

The offices of the additional deputy commissioner, forest range, PWD sub divisional and SBI building are under landslide threat, Towsik said. Road connectivity to the additional deputy commissioner's office at his official residence is also disrupted.

Towsik, circle officer Tojum Ete along with a team of sub-divisional disaster management committee visited the flood-prone areas of the town and urged the people to move to safer places until rain stops. Deputy Commissioner M Riba in a report to the state government has appealed for engaging a team of experts to study the climatic condition of the area.
