Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said the opposition parties in the Rajya Sabha are against the amendments in the Land Acquisition Bill, which he termed as anti-farmer, adding that they would only profit businessmen.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said the opposition parties in the Rajya Sabha are against the amendments in the Land Acquisition Bill, which he termed as anti-farmer, adding that they would only profit businessmen.
"All the opposition parties in Rajya Sabha and the Shiv Sena and the Biju Janata Dal from the NDA are against these amendments. These amendments will not get support in the Rajya Sabha and is only for the businessmen to make profit," Jairam Ramesh told ANI.

Earlier this week, the Lok Sabha passed the Land Acquisition Bill of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP Government at the Centre via a voice vote. Nine amendments to the bill have been adopted.
The Congress party however, blocked railway tracks in Lucknow to protest against the land reform bill.
