Lambasting Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)'s family, senior BJP leader and deputy CM of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday called party president Lalu Prasad Yadav Bihar's new "Natwarlal", who "compelled" a former MLC to write his will in favour of his sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav in exchange for the membership of Bihar Legislative Council.

According to Modi, Mohammad Shamim was nominated as MLC from the governor's quota in 1998 when Rabri Devi was the Bihar CM. "On May 12, 2005, Shamim and his wife Sofia Tabassum nominated Tejashwi and Tej Pratap as their successor to a plot of land worth Rs 2 crore in their will, for the service and dedication that Tejashwi and Tej Pratap had shown towards the couple," Modi said.

This plot of land was "purchased" by the Shamim family in 1993-94 from Ramashray Prasad Yadav, who was made the chairman of Bihar Public Service Commission from January 1991 to January 1997 when Lalu was the Bihar CM. On May 12, 2005, the Shamim couple also transferred the power of attorney of the land to Rabri Devi, virtually handing over the property to the Yadav family.

The questions raised by Modi included, "Why did the Shamim couple write the posh property in Tejashwi and Tej Pratap's name despite having three children of their own? What sort of service and dedication was received by the Shamim couple from a 15-year-old son of a CM that made them happy enough to write their properties off?"
