Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar will "backstab" each other, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said on Sunday ridiculing the alliance between JD(U) and RJD for Bihar polls.

The Union minister claimed that notwithstanding the alliance between JD-U and RJD, the NDA will win the Assembly polls in Bihar with a two-third majority. "This alliance is not going to succeed. This alliance is just aimed at putting up a show before the media. This is an alliance in which both (Prasad and Kumar) will meet with a knife in their hands and backstab each other," Paswan, who heads Lok Janshakti Party, a key NDA ally, told PTI.

"There is no merger of RJD and JD-U now. They are just going in for an alliance. Even now, the name of the Chief Ministerial candidate of the alliance has not been declared. What kind of alliance is this? RJD should tell who will be the CM candidate of the alliance.

"Some time back RJD leader Abdul Bari Sidiqui was also saying that he was also a candidate for the CM post. Before they announce an alliance, Nitish goes to meet Rahul Gandhi alone," Paswan told PTI. The LJP chief alleged that Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar are coming together "anyhow now" as they have realised that they have "no strength". "Neither Nitish nor Lalu now has any vote," he claimed.

Paswan also questioned why the issue of alliance between the two parties is "dragging" on for such a long time if everything was fine between them. "We were hearing about merger of RJD and JDU for last so many months. It did not materialise. Similarly this alliance will also fall apart during elections," the LJP chief said. His remarks came on a day when Bihar's ruling JD(U) and Lalu Prasad's RJD decided to contest the state Assembly polls in alliance and constituted a six-member committee to finalise seat-sharing.
