Dismissing charges against party MP Dushyant Singh as "propaganda" ahead of Bihar polls, Rajasthan BJP on Friday came out in his support and claimed transactions between his firm and former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi were "legal".

"There is absolutely no irregularity in transactions which are legal and they have been assessed by the income tax department. "All the allegations are completely baseless and misleading ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls," BJP state president Ashok Parnami said at a news conference.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore claimed that the transactions were in compliance with the Companies Act- 1956 and were between the two private companies. Showing documents, Parnami said that as many as 965 shares of Dushyant's company were transferred and a total transaction of Rs 9,28,33,000 took place between the two companies in 2008 and 2009. Dushyant's company also took a loan of Rs 3.80 crore from (Modi's) company and interest was also paid.

"The company filed income tax return from 2008 and no return filing is pending. Dushyant's company manages three high value properties in Dholpur, Delhi and Lucknow so there is no question over the company's assets and their values," he said. "No fact has been concealed from the assessment authority by the company. This is Congress party's propaganda ahead of the assembly elections in Bihar," he said.

When pointed out that no company of Lalit Modi exists at the given address in Sanganer, Jaipur, Parnami said that the company may have changed the address after the transactions. Rathore said the transactions between the two private companies were made through cheques as per norms.

"We do not know Lalit Modi, we are just talking about two companies between whom valid transactions took place," he said. Rathore alleged that a company in which former chief minister Ashok Gehlot's son Vaibhav Gehlot was a legal consultant received black money from a Mauritius-based company and said that no inquiry was initiated by the former Congress government.

Both the leaders said that misleading allegations were being levelled on Raje and her son. They said that the entire party was behind Raje and has supported her. "All the BJP MLAs and four independent MLAs also are with Raje. She is our leader," Rathore said.

Defending Raje on allegation of secret support to Modi's UK immigration application in 2011 on condition that her support was not made known to Indian authorities, Parnami said that Raje has already explained her position and no other explanation was required.
