Opposition Congress in Kerala today asked the CPIM-led LDF government to take steps for retrieving 75,000 acres of public land allegedly held illegally by private plantation group and others.

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President V M Sudheeran, in a letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, said though Special Officer M G Rajamanikam had submitted a report seeking CBI and Enforcement Directorate probe into the matter months ago, the government was yet to act on it.

He also said a CBI probe as recommended by the Special Officer should be, Sudheeran said.

Government also should take steps to vacate the stay on cases connected with public land illegally occupied by private parties in the state, Sudheeran added.
