Konkan Railway to follow monsoon timetable from June 10

Konkan Railway on Friday announced that it would be following its annual monsoon time-table from June 10 to June 31. KR in a statement said that passengers who have been issued journey tickets prior to the announcement of the Monsoon Time Table should check the timings of their train well in advance.

The monsoon time-table is a mechanism to ensure that trains start their journey earlier or in some cases later in order to compensate for the reduced speeds. Since KR runs through a geologically sensitive zone, heavy monsoon rains often cause landslides. Reduced train speeds is one of the ways to ensure a train is safe in case it is faced with an emergency situation arising out of inclement weather.
