Konkan Railway got a new station on its route after the railway firm finished construction of the Veravali railway station earlier this week. Railway minister Suresh Prabhu had laid the foundation stone for the station on October 16 last year and the station got completed in around 5 months at an estimated cost of Rs 1.02 crore.

The station was a long-standing demand of the people of Lanja Taluka and surrounding areas who had to take a long trip to either Adavali or Vilawade stations to catch a Konkan Railway train.

The new station, located at Kms. 245.23 between Adavali and Vilawade, will mean that the hardship for these villagers is a thing of the past, said KR officials.

Prabhu will inaugurate and commission the station on March 25. In a statement, KR said that train nos. 50105 / 50106 Sawantwadi-Diva -Sawantwadi (Sindhudurg Passenger) and 50101 / 50102 Madgaon- Ratnagiri – Madgaon Passenger trains will halt at this station with effect from March 26.
