Almost four days after a speeding car ran over Air Force Abhimanyu Gaud, prime accused, Sambia Sohrab was arrested on Saturday night. Sambia is TMC leader Mohammad Sohrab's son. Gaud was killed in the hit and run on Red Road amidst the Republic Day parade rehearsal in Kolkata.

Around 11.10 pm, Sohrab was arrested from Central Kolkata. He has been brought to Lalbazar, the Kolkata Police headquarters. He will be questioned tonight and will be produced before the court here on Sunday.

On Wednesday morning, around 6 am, a drill was on in the run-up to the Republic Day when a vehicle entered the cordoned off area. When Gaud tried to stop the vehicle near the south gate of the Fort William, the Eastern Command headquarters, it hit him. Gaud was immediately taken to the Military hospital in Alipore, where he was declared dead.

The driver of the vehicle, an Audi, believed to be Sohrab's, tore off the temporary number plates and fled from the spot.

The car is owned by TMC leader Mohammad Sohrab’s son Ambia Sohrab. A challan, left behind by the driver of the car mentioned Ambia’s name as the person to whom the newly-purchased car was delivered. The car was purchased on January 4 by Mussadi Business Pvt Ltd, company owned by Mohammad Sohrab.
