Fire broke out at famous Priya Cinema Hall in South Kolkata on Sunday night. The accident happened around 10:20 PM. At a time the night show was underway. According to initial reports, 5 fire tenders were pressed into operations to bring the blaze under control. Kolkata Mayor Shovan Chatterjee has confirmed that no person was injured in the accident. He said that the precise cause of the fire will be known by Monday morning.
Top officers from Kolkata police rushed to the spot to oversee the rescue operation. Fire has been doused thanks to the relentless effort from fire brigade officers. Some reports suggest that fire started from the heater of a eatery outside the cinema hall. The entire place was covered with smoke quickly. However, alert staffers in the cinema hall ensured that nothing fatal happened. A technician working in the projector room first saw the fire and alerted others. Even though there was considerable panic, moviegoers managed to rush out of the hall before the fire brigade arrived.

Some family members of Arijit Dutta, the owner of Priya Cinema Hall were also caught in the fire. They stay a floor above the cinema hall. They rushed to the roof to escape the billowing smoke. Once the firemen came, all the trapped individuals were rescued promptly. Priya Cinema is one of the oldest and most famous standalone hall in Kolkata. It is located in the Deshapriya Park area of the city.
