Kolkata boy Arkya Chatterjee, a student of the Vivekananda Mission School, has topped the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination with 99.75%. This is the highest score in the last five years.

“I did not believe it initially, but checked the website and calculated the marks twice to verify the results. I used to study for around nine to 10 hours daily - including the coaching hours. I didn't take any special coaching except those required for the engineering entrance exams,” said Chatterjee.

Chatterjee is a big fan of Feluda, the Bengali fiction series and says he used to read the books even days before his examination. He is also a huge fan of the Barcelona football club.

The topper says he used to take breaks from studying and often enjoyed playing the keyboard. His grandfather also devoted a lot of time teaching him, he adds.

Speaking to Zee 24 Ghanta Chatterjee said, “As soon as the results were announced, I was greeted and given a grand welcome by the school principal, teachers and my friends at my school. Everyone around seemed to be in high spirits following the announcement of the results. A major credit of my achievement goes to the school.”
